Are you headed for a day outing? Bringing the family to the zoo? Going to an amusement park for the day with your kids? Outings are great fun! But even better when you are properly prepared - especially when going with children. Don't bring more than you can carry. You can always keep larger or extra items in the car. Following is a list of items you may want to consider bringing with you on your next outing.

  • Membership card, season pass, entrance pass, discount coupons for this venue
  • Basic first aid kit, a few bandaids
  • Book – for down time if your kids are on a ride
  • Camera
  • Camera – take a picture of each child when you arrive – so that if they get lost, you remember what they are wearing, and can show a picture of them
  • Cash
  • Cell phone
  • Change of clothes – keep in the car
  • Coins for lockers
  • Comfortable shoes
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Insect repellant
  • Items for baby or younger kids – stroller, diapers, wipes, change of clothes, bottle, special food, toy
  • Light jacket – keep in the car if weather looks warm
  • Name written in permanent marker, on tag of each child’s shirt
  • Over-the-counter medications that you might need (headache, allergy)
  • Permanent marker – label items in  case they got lost later
  • Phone #s – type up a sheet of emergency phone #s and put one in kids pocket, plus adults
  • Prescription medications
  • Rain jacket – keep in the car if weather looks dry
  • Snacks
  • Sun hat
  • Sunglasses
  • Sunscreen
  • Swim suit, towel, swim shoes – if going on water rides
  • Tissues
  • Water bottle, with water
  • Wet wipes
  • Zip loc bags – to put electronics (phone, camera) in if going on a wet ride
  • Friends & family!
  • Picnic lunch to keep in the car – cooler, ice, lunch, beverages, picnic blanket

  • Check the park’s policies about food, beverage and dress before leaving your house.
