- A supply of basic craft items, gathered together in one place in a storage container, can make craft time much easier. If you are not a crafty person, but your child has occassional home craft assignments, or you are looking to entertain children, you will find this list helpful in getting started. Following is a list of basic supplies you might want to include in your craft kit. Craft kits make great presents for children's birthdays, new parents or grandparents - items such as paper, glue, paints, scissors, ribbons and foam shapes can keep kids busy for hours.
