First aid kit checklist

Every home should have a well stocked first aid kit, with extras to take on the road, in the car, camping, on the boat, ... You can purchase pre-packaged kits, or start from scratch and build your own. Either way, review the contents and add items that you are missing. Make sure to regularly check the contents for expiration dates on ointments, and replenish supplies as you get low.

  • Ace bandage or elastic bandage
  • Adhesive tape, cloth 1”
  • Alcohol wipes
  • Aloe Vera gel
  • Antibiotic ointment
  • Antiseptic spray
  • Aspirin, ibuprofen, acetaminophen or pain reliever
  • Baking soda
  • Bandages, assorted adhesive
  • Barrier devise for CPR

  • Burn cream
  • Calamine lotion
  • Cotton swabs, cotton balls
  • CPR instruction card
  • Emergency phone numbers
  • EpiPen (epinephrine auto-injector) for severe allergic (anaphylactic) reactions
  • Eye wash kit
  • Face mask
  • Flashlight with new batteries
  • Gloves, disposable latex
  • Glucose tablets
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Hydrocortisone cream
  • Hydrogen peroxide
  • Infants & children – special remedies for children, age appropriate
  • Insect bite
  • Instant cold pack
  • Moleskin
  • Over-the-counter remedies (allergy, decongestant, Tylenol, Motrin, nausea, diarrhea, antacid, cough drops)
  • Paper & pencil
  • Paper drinking cup
  • Prescription medications
  • Roller bandage, 3” and 4”, individually wrapped
  • Safety pins
  • Scissors
  • Smelling salts

  • Sterile gauze pads, 3x3” and 4x4”
  • Thermometer
