Swim meet - what to bring for swimmers

Is your child a swimmer? Swim meets are great fun, but a long day if you are not prepared. Following is a list of items to bring with you to a swim meet.

  • canopy or tent to sit under
  • cash
  • chair
  • cooler for water
  • entertainment – book, iPod, video game, paper & pen
  • extra team swim suit
  • flip flops or sandals
  • food – bagels, fruit, veggies
  • goggles (several)
  • hat with large brim
  • healthy snacks
  • liquid / beverages – water, 100% fruit juice, sports drinks
  • medication, over the counter drugs (headache)
  • permanent marker to label everything ahead of time
  • phone #, address, map to meet
  • phone #s of physician, parents, coach, emergency contact
  • schedule of events
  • sleeping bag or blankets to lay down on between races
  • stop watch
  • sunscreen
  • swim caps (several)
  • team swim suit
  • team sweat suit
  • towels (several)
  • t-shirts
  • water, water, water
