< Back to Travel
Ready for a vacation? Be sure to consider the following when making your travel plans.
- Who's going? - you alone, you and a spouse/friend, whole family, etc.
- What type of vacation you want? - relaxing, high energy, go/go/go, beachside all day, plenty of adventure, lots of shopping, etc.
- What is your budget? - $500, $1,000 or $10,000 or more
- What is your number 1 goal? - see family, impress kids, get some downtime, stay connected to work, etc.
- What season do you want to be away? - Spring, Summer, Winter, Fall, Holiday Seasons, etc.
- What climate do you prefer? - Snowing & cold, Sunny & warm, Raining & mild?
- How long do you have? - A long weekend, 10 days, sabbatical, etc?
- How much planning do you want to do? - Little to no, 1 activity per day, plan every moment and every meal
- How much traveling vs. vacationing do you actually want to do? - Driving vs. flying, etc.
After you answer all these questions, you can better determine what type of vacation to plan and how, for example, here are a few scenarios:
- Family, mid-size budget, mild to warm climate, little planning required - DISNEY WORLD style trip
- You and a significant other, low to mid budget, relaxing, warm climate, some travel, long weekend - MEXICO style trip
- A few people, high budget, some events planned, warm climate, significant travel okay, long stay - HAWAII style trip
- Snow season, 2 people, some travel, little planning - SKI trip (Colorado/Utah) or high budget (SWISS ALPS)
